Cherry Bench

I build this table in 10 hours. The caveat being that the panel for the top was already glued up. It’s a recycled bench from the apartment above the shop. I had to re-flatten it and sand it all down, but I saved some time there. Where I did not save any time was the legs. I don’t have a lathe. I had to round those pieces by hand. I also tapered them by hand. what could have taken me a few minutes on the lathe took me a few hours with the planes and spokeshaves. I probably could have found a lathe somewhere in the city, convinced its owner to let me use it, and gotten back to the shop faster. Oh well. It was a fun challenge at least.
I needed a coffee table that fit my living room perfectly, but had some fast-approaching deadlines for other projects. I was able to sneak in on a weekend and knock this one out. It’s super easy to move as well. My partner appreciates that. Don’t tell her my next table will be concrete and reclaimed steel.
