My first self-designed piece.

I built this long before I ever thought to pursue woodworking as a career. Embarrassingly I cannot remember what my inspiration for this piece was. I believe I started out with the floating drawer concept, and went from there. It is likely I was just drawing shapes I like and listening to the advice of my mentor.

I love the animalistic weight the piece has. It makes me think of an antelope jackrabbit or a sika deer. 

The piece is two years old at my time of writing this. Cherry ages beautifully, especially with an oil and wax finish. The color pops more today than it did when it first left the shop destined to sit beside my big red couch.
